Fixing GPS and Navigation Problems

Get navigation working properly!

Problem: Location Not Updating

Causes:

  • GPS disabled
  • Location permission denied
  • Poor signal
  • App in background

Fixes:

1. Enable Location:

  • Phone Settings → Apps → Shaloz Driver
  • Permissions → Location
  • Select "Always" (not just "While Using")

2. Enable GPS:

  • Phone Settings → Location
  • Turn ON
  • High accuracy mode

3. Restart App:

  • Force close
  • Reopen
  • Location should work

4. Move to Open Area:

  • Away from tall buildings
  • Under clear sky
  • Better GPS signal

Problem: Navigation Not Starting

Fixes:

  • Tap "Start Trip" again
  • Restart navigation
  • Check internet connection
  • Update app
  • Restart phone

Problem: Wrong Location Shown

Why:

  • GPS acquiring signal
  • In building/tunnel
  • Poor signal

Wait:

  • Usually improves in seconds
  • Move to better location
  • Signal strengthens

Problem: "Turn Left" but Should Turn Right

Causes:

  • GPS compass calibration off
  • Phone upside down

Fix:

  • Calibrate compass:
  • Move phone in figure-8 pattern
  • Improves accuracy
  • Keep phone right-side-up

Location Permissions

Must Be "Always":

  • Not just "While Using App"
  • Tracks while driving
  • Even if phone locked

Set Correctly:

iPhone:

  • Settings → Privacy → Location → Shaloz
  • Select "Always"

Android:

  • Settings → Apps → Shaloz → Permissions
  • Location → "Allow all the time"

GPS Signal

Best Signal:

  • Under open sky
  • Away from tall buildings
  • Not in tunnels/parking garages

Poor Signal:

  • Underground
  • Dense urban areas
  • Inside buildings
  • Heavy tree cover

Tips:

  • Mount phone near windshield
  • Use phone holder
  • Clear view of sky

Network Issues

GPS Needs:

  • GPS satellite signal
  • Plus internet (for maps)

Check:

  • Cellular data ON
  • Good signal strength
  • Not in airplane mode
  • WiFi ON helps (assisted GPS)

Battery Saver Mode

Can Affect GPS:

  • Battery saver limits GPS
  • Turn off for accurate tracking

iPhone:

  • Settings → Battery
  • Low Power Mode → OFF (while driving)

Android:

  • Settings → Battery
  • Battery Saver → OFF (while driving)

App Issues

Try:

  • Force close app
  • Reopen
  • Clear app cache
  • Update to latest version
  • Reinstall if persistent

Using Alternate Navigation

If App Navigation Fails:

  1. Copy address from Shaloz app
  2. Paste in Google Maps or Apple Maps
  3. Navigate with that app
  4. Still mark arrived/complete in Shaloz
