Configuring Shipping Zones

WooCommerce Shipping Zones for Shaloz

Set up where your store can ship using Shaloz.

What Are Shipping Zones?

Simple Explanation:

Shipping zones tell WooCommerce: "For customers in THIS area, offer THESE shipping methods."

Example:

  • Zone: "United States"
  • Shipping Methods: Flat Rate, Local Pickup, Shaloz Shipping
  • Result: US customers see all three options at checkout

Why This Matters for Shaloz

Shaloz Only Works in Zones:

  • You must add Shaloz to at least one shipping zone
  • Customers in that zone will see Shaloz option
  • Customers outside that zone won't see Shaloz

Geographic Coverage:

  • Shaloz serves USA only
  • Add Shaloz to your "United States" zone
  • Or create zone for specific states/ZIP codes you serve

Viewing Your Shipping Zones

Where to Find:

  1. WordPress → WooCommerce → Settings
  2. Click "Shipping" tab
  3. See list of your zones

Common Setup:

Zone Name          Regions
United States     United States
Europe            Europe
Rest of World     Everywhere else

Adding Shaloz to Existing Zone

Best for Most Stores:

1. Click Your Zone:

  • Click on "United States" (or your main zone)
  • Zone details open

2. Check Zone Regions:

  • Should include "United States" in regions
  • If not, click "Add region" → Select "United States"

3. Add Shaloz Shipping Method:

  • Scroll to "Shipping methods" section
  • Click "Add shipping method"
  • Select "Shaloz Shipping" from dropdown
  • Click "Add shipping method"
  • Shaloz appears in list!

4. Configure Shaloz:

  • Click "Shaloz Shipping" to open settings
  • Follow Article 3.3 for configuration

Done! US customers now see Shaloz option.

Creating New Zone for Shaloz

If You Want Shaloz Only in Specific States:

Example: Only Deliver Locally in California

1. Create New Zone:

  • Click "Add shipping zone"
  • Zone name: "California - Local Delivery"

2. Add Region:

  • Zone regions: Click "Add region"
  • Select "United States" → "California"
  • Could also select specific ZIP codes
  • Save

3. Add Shaloz:

  • In this new zone, click "Add shipping method"
  • Choose "Shaloz Shipping"
  • Configure it

4. Result:

  • Only California customers see Shaloz
  • Other states see your other shipping methods

Multiple Zones Strategy

Advanced Setup Example:

Zone 1: Local (Shaloz Only)

  • Regions: ZIP codes 02101-02110 (Boston area)
  • Methods: Shaloz Shipping only
  • Use Case: Ultra-fast local delivery area

Zone 2: Regional (Shaloz + Alternatives)

  • Regions: Massachusetts
  • Methods: Shaloz Shipping, Flat Rate
  • Use Case: Shaloz where available, fallback for far areas

Zone 3: National (No Shaloz)

  • Regions: Rest of US
  • Methods: Flat Rate, Free Shipping over $100
  • Use Case: States you don't deliver to with Shaloz

Zone Priority (How WooCommerce Chooses)

Order Matters:

  • WooCommerce checks zones from top to bottom
  • Uses first zone that matches customer address
  • More specific zones should be higher

Example Order:

  1. "Boston Local" (specific ZIP codes) - Shaloz only
  2. "Massachusetts" (whole state) - Shaloz + Flat Rate
  3. "United States" (everywhere else) - Flat Rate only

Customer in ZIP 02101:

  • Matches Zone 1 → Sees Shaloz only

Customer in Springfield, MA:

  • Doesn't match Zone 1 (wrong ZIP)
  • Matches Zone 2 → Sees Shaloz + Flat Rate

Customer in California:

  • Doesn't match Zone 1 or 2
  • Matches Zone 3 → Sees Flat Rate only

Best Practices

For Most Stores:

  • One zone: "United States" with Shaloz + other methods
  • Simple and works for everyone

For Local-Only Delivery:

  • One zone: Your city/state with Shaloz
  • Customers outside area see "Shipping not available"
  • Or create second zone for non-Shaloz areas

For Hybrid (Local + National):

  • Zone 1: Local area (ZIP codes) - Shaloz
  • Zone 2: Rest of US - USPS/UPS
  • Offers fast local option where you can deliver

Testing Your Zones

After Setup:

Test as Customer:

  1. Add product to cart
  2. Go to checkout
  3. Enter shipping address in your zone
  4. Should see Shaloz option
  5. Change ZIP to outside zone
  6. Shaloz shouldn't appear

Try Different Addresses:

  • Local ZIP (should see Shaloz)
  • Distant ZIP in same state (might see Shaloz if zone includes it)
  • Different state (shouldn't see Shaloz unless national)

Troubleshooting

Problem: Shaloz Not Showing at Checkout

Check:

  1. Is Shaloz added to a zone? (Shipping → Click zone → Should see "Shaloz Shipping")
  2. Is customer's address in that zone? (Check zone regions)
  3. Is Shaloz enabled? (Click Shaloz Shipping → "Enable" checked?)
  4. Is API key valid? (Click "Test Connection")

Problem: Wrong Customers See Shaloz

Example: NYC customer sees Shaloz but you only serve Boston

Fix:

  • Check zone regions
  • Zone might include whole state instead of specific ZIP codes
  • Edit zone → Remove broad region → Add specific ZIP codes

Problem: Shaloz Shows for International Customers

Fix:

  • Shaloz only works in USA
  • Check zone doesn't include international regions
  • Edit zone → Remove non-US regions
