Never miss an important delivery update! Shaloz automatically notifies you when things happen with your orders.

Where You See Notifications

The Bell Icon (Top Right):

  • Look for the bell icon in the header when you're logged into the portal
  • Red badge shows number of unread notifications
  • Example: Bell with "5" means 5 new updates

Click the Bell to:

  • See all your recent notifications
  • Read what happened
  • Jump to specific orders
  • Clear notifications

What You Get Notified About

Order Events:

  • New order created (from WooCommerce or manual entry)
  • Order fulfilled successfully
  • Driver assigned to your delivery
  • Package picked up from your location
  • Delivery completed
  • Order cancelled

System Alerts:

  • Payment processed
  • Payment failed
  • Connection issues
  • Important account updates

Each Notification Shows:

  • What happened (like "Driver John assigned to Order #1234")
  • When it happened ("5 minutes ago", "2 hours ago")
  • Order number (click to view order details)

Notification Center Features

When You Click the Bell Icon:

Connection Status:

  • Green "Connected" - You're receiving updates in real-time
  • Red "Disconnected" - Temporary connection issue, will reconnect automatically

Last Updated:

  • Shows when notifications were last refreshed
  • Example: "Last updated: 2 minutes ago"

Notification List:

  • Scroll through up to 50 recent notifications
  • Blue dot = unread notification
  • No dot = already read

Actions:

  • Click notification → Opens related order
  • Mark All Read → Clears all blue dots
  • Refresh button → Manually check for new updates
  • Settings (gear icon) → Change notification preferences

Notification Settings

How to Access:

  1. Click bell icon
  2. Click gear/settings icon
  3. Choose your preferences

Options:

Toast Notifications:

  • What They Are: Small popup boxes that appear on screen when something happens
  • Where They Appear: Bottom-right corner of your screen
  • Example: "Driver assigned to Order #1234" pops up for a few seconds
  • Turn On/Off: Toggle switch

Sound Alerts:

  • What They Are: "Ding!" sound when notification arrives
  • When to Use: If you want audio alerts for important events
  • Turn On/Off: Toggle switch

Clear All Notifications:

  • Button to delete all notifications from your list
  • Useful for fresh start
  • Doesn't affect actual orders - just clears the notification list

Your Preferences Are Saved:

  • Settings stick even after you log out
  • Each browser remembers your choice
  • Set once, works forever

Real-Time Updates

How It Works:

Automatic Updates:

  • When a driver updates status in their app → You see notification instantly
  • No page refresh needed
  • No delay

WebSocket Connection:

  • Fancy term for "always connected"
  • You Don't Need to Do Anything - it just works
  • If connection drops temporarily, it reconnects automatically

Cross-Tab Syncing:

  • Open portal in multiple browser tabs? No problem!
  • All tabs update at the same time
  • Mark notification read in one tab → Marked read in all tabs

Notification Examples

Example 1: Driver Assigned

What to Do: Nothing! Driver is on the way to pick up the package.

Example 2: Delivery Completed

Delivery Completed
Order #1234 delivered successfully
Customer: Jane Doe, 123 Main St
15 minutes ago

What to Do: Celebrate! Order is done. WooCommerce will update automatically.

Example 3: Payment Processed

 Payment Captured
$12.50 charged for Order #1234

What to Do: Note for your records. Delivery fee charged successfully.

Managing Notifications

Mark as Read:

  • Click notification to open order → Automatically marks as read
  • Blue dot disappears

Mark All Read:

  • Click "Mark All Read" button
  • Clears all blue dots at once
  • Useful at end of day

Delete All:

  • Settings → "Clear All Notifications"
  • Starts fresh
  • Notifications come back as new events happen

Keep Notifications:

  • List holds up to 50 recent notifications
  • Older ones automatically removed
  • Recent activity always visible

Notification Tips

For Busy Days:

  • Enable sound alerts so you hear when orders come in
  • Check notifications regularly (every hour)
  • Mark all read at end of day

For Quiet Periods:

  • Toast notifications might be enough
  • Sound off if it's distracting
  • Check once or twice a day

For Team Members:

  • Each person has their own notification preferences
  • Set what works for you
  • Team members only see notifications for their assigned pickup locations

Troubleshooting Notifications

Problem: Not Receiving Any Notifications

Fixes:

  1. Check connection status:
  2. Click bell icon
  3. Should say "Connected" in green
  4. If red/disconnected, refresh page
  5. Check your settings:
  6. Make sure notifications not accidentally disabled in Settings
  7. Refresh the page:
  8. Sometimes helps reconnect
  9. Try different browser:
  10. Clear cache and cookies
  11. Chrome, Firefox, or Safari work best

Problem: Bell Icon Doesn't Show Number

Fixes:

  • Click bell icon anyway - notifications might still be there
  • Refresh page
  • Check if browser notifications are blocked in browser settings
  • Clear browser cache

Problem: Toast Notifications Not Appearing

Check:

  • Bell icon → Settings → Make sure Toast Notifications toggle is ON
  • Check browser isn't blocking pop-ups
  • Some ad blockers block toasts - try disabling temporarily
  • Notifications still appear in bell icon list even if toasts don't pop up

Problem: Sound Alerts Not Working

Check:

  • Bell icon → Settings → Sound Alerts toggle is ON
  • Computer volume isn't muted
  • Browser has permission to play sounds
  • Some browsers block sound by default - check browser settings

Problem: "Disconnected" Status Won't Go Away

Fixes:

  1. Refresh the page (often reconnects automatically)
  2. Check your internet connection
  3. Log out and log back in
  4. Try different browser
  5. Contact help.shaloz.com if persists

Stay Informed:

  • Check notifications several times per day
  • Enable sound alerts during busy hours
  • Mark all read daily for clean slate
